Today, I want to be your guide on a journey through some of my favorite walks in this breathtaking corner of Victoria.

Lace up your boots, grab your sense of adventure, and get ready to explore hidden trails, encounter fascinating creatures, and soak in the beauty of nature's masterpiece.

1. Entrance Walk

Our adventure begins just steps away from Beachcomber Holiday Units with the iconic Entrance Walk. This 6km loop promises a coastal odyssey that will leave you invigorated.

Feel the soft sand squish between your toes as you meander along the beach, the rhythmic crash of waves a constant companion. Breathe in the salty air and let the ocean breeze tousle your hair – this is pure coastal bliss!

The Entrance Walk offers a choose-your-own-adventure experience. Head towards Flagstaff Jetty and keep an eye out for playful seals basking in the sun or showcasing their acrobatic dives.

Feeling adventurous? Take a detour to Flagstaff Lookout for panoramic views that stretch across the turquoise waters and golden coastline. And no trip to the Entrance Walk is complete without sinking your toes into the soft sand of Ninety Mile Beach, a seemingly endless stretch of golden perfection.

2. McKenzie River Rainforest Walk:

Just a scenic drive east lies the McKenzie River Rainforest Walk, a tranquil escape into a lush wonderland. This 1km loop offers a well-maintained path, making it perfect for walkers of all abilities.

Informative signage along the way unveils the secrets of the rainforest, introducing you to the diverse plant life and the fascinating creatures that call this place home. Keep your eyes peeled for the elusive Lyrebird, renowned for its ability to mimic an astonishing array of sounds!

As you wander through the towering trees, enveloped by the symphony of birdsong, feel the stress melt away and a sense of peace wash over you.

3. Kalimna Jetty Walk:

Are you ready for a 4.5km nature odyssey?

Our next adventure starts at Apex Park playground. The Kalimna Jetty Walk takes you across the North Arm Bridge then under it and up to Seaview Pd, where you'll be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views.

The path then meanders through pockets of bushland, eventually leading you to Jemmys Point Light Tower Picnic Area, a perfect spot for a rest and a chance to soak in the scenery. Then head along to Hotel Road taking in the breathtaking views.

Finally, the iconic Kalimna Jetty awaits, a place where playful dolphins and curious seals are frequent visitors. Let the rhythmic crash of waves accompany you as you explore the rock-wall track, completing your coastal adventure.

4. Fairy Dell:

Feeling the need for a mystical escape?

Just a 40-minute scenic drive away from Beachcomber lies Fairy Dell Flora Reserve, a place where the magic of nature unfolds.

Step into the 1.6km Fairy Dell Scenic Loop Trail and wander through a world of towering trees, vibrant native orchids, and lush ferns.

This temperate rainforest is a photographer's paradise, with unique flora and diverse bird species around every corner. Close your eyes and listen to the symphony of birdsong and rustling leaves – it's pure serenity!

5. Lake Tyres to Glass House:

Lace up your boots for a 7km return walk steeped in history and natural beauty.

Starting at Waterwheel Beach Tavern, the Lake Tyres to Glass House walk takes you on a journey through time. Follow the 90 Mile Beach east to connect with pathways and tracks, discovering remnants of old glass making factories along the way. These historical relics stand in stark contrast to the serene beauty of the lake-side beaches, creating a unique blend of past and present.

Retrace your steps along the seaside, the refreshing ocean breeze carrying the scent of salt and adventure.

6. Trestle Bridge to Costicks Weir:

Prepare to be awestruck by the architectural marvel of the Stony Creek Trestle Bridge, just 20km east of Lakes Entrance. This bridge is a testament to human ingenuity, standing strong amidst the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape.

After taking in the bridge's grandeur, venture further to Costicks Weir, a tranquil reminder of nature's resilience.

As you soak in the serene ambiance, watch the vibrant dance of dragonflies and keep an eye out for the majestic Gippsland Water Dragons basking in the sun.

This spot beautifully blends historical significance with the wonders of the natural world.
